Detroit is more than a city, it’s a symbol. It represents the decline of American industry, but also the resilience, flexibility, and vision of American workers. Planet Forward went to Detroit for Shell's “Powering Progress Together” event to hear from energy entrepreneurs, innovators, and thought leaders. Data and the sharing economy were popular topics, but so was the uncertainty associated with the future of energy. In the words of William McDonough, author of Cradle to Cradle and The Upcycle: “The world will surprise us.”
Detroit’s going to play a big role in how and when those surprises come.
