BP Oil Spill Cleanup: Making Oysters Safe to Eat

University of Mississippi pharmacy Professor Mark T. Hamann and his research team are developing a process to clean bacteria from oysters using CO2. The process would help communities recover and make oysters safe to eat.

A year after the BP oil spill, oil can still be found on the ocean floor, contaminating marine life, and Dr. Hamann's clean up efforts don't stop at oysters. He's also developing a new method using saw dust to help clean up oil in the Gulf and eliminate the need for dispersants.
