Tawani Foundation

There are so many great foundations within the United States that many people don't realize exist. One of my personal favorites, and a Planet Forward supporter, happens to be the Tawani Foundation. I'll give you the mission statement so you can make an initial judgment for yourself:

Tawani Foundation’s vision is to affect significant transformation of organizations and educational programs that enrich knowledge, preserve military heritage, improve health and wellness and conserve unique sites for enduring positive impact on individuals, communities and societies.

The organization does a lot to preserve American history and to encourage individuals to become passionate about positively affecting society. One project Tawani undertook, the Chicago Botanical Gardens, has really touched the environmental lover in me. As a New York City native, the New York Botanical Gardens were a large part of my childhood. It was amazing to see everything that the Earth has the potential to give us already. From displays about medicine, food purposes, and exotic explanations about life around the globe, the flowers and plants always had a way of connecting me to the Earth.

Botanical Gardens work hard to show people the possibility of conducting work within a green environment. The new laboratories at the Chicago Botanical Gardens center are completely LEED certified. So not only can visitors go and learn about the planet, they can also learn about energy efficiency. Learn More about the Chicago Botanical Gardens Here

The Botanical Gardens in Chicago aren't the only people from chi-town with LEED ideas though. Some planet forward contributors have proven to be real LEED fans. Imagine using an idea that is powerful enough for the support of the Tawani Foundation and the Chicago Botanical Gardens within your own home?
