The 46th annual Committee on World Food Security (CFS) conference brought together leaders from around the world, working toward a singular goal: achieving the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goal to eliminate hunger by 2030.
Unfortunately, there is massive work to be done. As we heard at the conference, there has actually been an increase in world hunger — for several years in a row — reaching 820 million in 2018.
The theme of CFS 46, “Making a Difference in Food Security and Nutrition,” meant the conversations happening at the conference were focused on collectively finding solutions to these problems.
Our Planet Forward students, spanning diverse backgrounds and geography, set out with open minds to hear the discussions, be inspired by their ideas, and to take those big ideas home to their schools and communities to share and inspire others.
These are the stories this experience inspired, from food tech to food security.
We can move the planet forward and succeed in achieving zero hunger. But we must work together, spanning generations, political affiliations, and borders.
