Do you eat fish if it comes from China? I don’t. I have nothing to back up my suspicions, but China doesn’t seem to be in the forefront of environmental safety. I may be all wet, but it just seems like an unnecessary risk.
So why don’t I feel the same way about seafood from the Gulf of Mexico? After all, the oil pouring into the Gulf waters isn’t olive oil.
Maybe it’s because I trust the inspectors whose job it is to make sure the oysters, shrimp and fish are safe. And, I have to believe that the fisherman out here would not purposely poison people.
The other night, I enjoyed coconut battered shrimp. I asked if they were wild-caught Louisiana shrimp. They were, and they were quite good. If they came from China, I’d have left them on the plate. Doesn’t quite make sense, does it?
What about you? You gonna eat that Gulf seafood?
