Valerie Yurk is a third-year journalism major at George Washington University. After volunteering in a biology lab freshman year, Yurk was drawn to science reporting. Last semester, she studied abroad in Prague, Czech Republic where she interned at Transitions Online, a Prague-based publication covering post-Soviet countries. She currently is a reporter for GW Hatchet, covering the metro beat.
